Music Monday

 
It's been 20 years since The Coalition for Music Education established Music Monday! This year, on May 6th educators and students from all across Canada will celebrate music #TogetherInHarmony. Teachers can register online to receive learning guides, resources, recordings and more. If you are participating, feel free to share your story with ORMTA through our social media project, Noteworthy Studios & Students.

CFMTA Events

 
CFMTA's Memorial Pedagogy Award is given annually to an applicant receiving the highest mark in an Associate Diploma Level Pedagogy Exam from a national based teaching institution which offers exams in every province/territory. Click here to learn more.
 
The National CFMTA Essay Competition invites submissions of essays on any topic related to music teaching, pedagogy or performance practice. This competition is open to all Canadian residents currently attending high school, and studying at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Read more about this competition here
 
The deadline to apply for both of these CFMTA initiatives is May 1st, 2024.

Notes Submissions

 
ORMTA's Notes magazine is always looking for submissions of pedagogical articles, promotional articles or advertisements. Our next issue will be published June 1st and the deadline for submissions is May 1st.
 
* We have implemented new, online submission forms for articles and reports from the branches.

2024 In Sync

 
Our 2024 AGM, Performance Competitions, OCTA Presentation and a special Keynote Presentation (more info to come) will all take place this summer at In Sync. Although the AGM, OCTA and Keynote presentations are free, registration is still required. If you plan on joining us from July 16th - 18th in Ottawa, you can register online here.
 
Online application forms to the Instrumental, Vocal and Young Artist Competitions are also now open and the application deadline is May 31st. Find more info here.
