ORMTA showcases some of the most talented and advanced music students from across Ontario in these prestigious competitions. Our Instrumental and Vocal competitions are held each year, while the Young Artist Competition takes place every other year. The winner of the ORMTA Young Artist Competition is awarded a scholarship and a concert tour of Ontario hosted by local ORMTA branches. The pianist who receives the highest standing in the ORMTA Young Artist Competition earns the right to represent Ontario at the CFMTA National Piano Competition, taking place the following year.
In 2026, ORMTA is embarking on a new, exciting format that will see piano, voice and woodwind competitors enter two preliminary rounds using video submissions in the hopes of advancing to our live final round. For each round, students will receive a written critique from a panel of distinguished adjudicators.
Special thanks to many organizations and individuals for their ongoing support of this competition. If you would like to make a donation to support our student scholarships, please click here.
