About The Teacher/Business

Abigail holds a Bachelor of Music (Music Education) from the University of Toronto as well as a Master of Music (Voice Performance) from Binghamton University, New York. Abigail has taught at several well known and respected music schools in the Toronto area and was a Teaching Assistant at Binghamton University, teaching undergraduate level singers, piano classes and voice classes as well as accompanying. Abigail has adjudicated Voice, Piano and Choirs at many festivals and competitions. As a clinician, she has lead workshops in language and diction as well performance skills. She is currently the Music Director at the Unitarian Congregation in Mississauga and the Assistant Director of the Mississauga Festival Youth Choir. Students of Mrs. Freeman have auditioned successfully into arts schools and college and university music programs, such as Wilfred Laurier University, Queens University, York University, Humber College, Cawthra School for the Arts, Iona Catholic Secondary School Arts Program, Queen Elizabeth Senior P.S. Arts Program, and Cardinal Carter School for the Arts. Students have also competed successfully in the Golden Nugget Awards, Kiwanis Music Festival, Peel Music Festival, NYCO and Davenport Music Festival. A pianist or singer can expect a music curriculum filled with all aspects of music literacy tailored to suit his or her individual needs, including; technique, music history, theory, ensemble, reading, rhythm, ear training, sight singing/reading, composition, improvisation, musicality and above all, a sense of enjoyment, enrichment and accomplishment. Mrs. Freeman is also a member of the Mississauga Arts Council and an executive member of the ORMTA Etobicoke Mississauga Branch and an executive member of the NATS Ontario Chapter.
