ORMTA members are welcome to suggest resources. If you have used a website, blog, app, book, newsletter, webinar, workshop, tool, etc. that would help build professional development within our membership, please let us know by emailing professionaldevelopment@ormta.org. We aim to include Ontarian or Canadian content in each issue.

Flat

This is a free music notation editor that is compatible with both Apple and Android Devices and available online at flat.io. Flat is an app that lets you create, edit, playback, print and export your sheet music and tabs. Students can compose their own melody using the music notation software. It allows students to either play their notes on the given keyboard, or place their notes on the staff. The program will play back the composition so the students can hear what they created. Students can explore different instrumentation that may be better suited to their composition, which can be saved online or downloaded to a computer.
