Sing-Along Messiah: an Interactive Concert

Do you have a Sing-Along Messiah in your area? When you join the audience and sing your heart out at Handel's triumphant Messiah, you get the surround-sound treatment. ORMTA's Professional Development Convenor, Jo-Anne Westover, has been going to the “Zing-Along” in Toronto for several years now (where Mr. Handel himself rises from the dead to conduct!) and it is one magical holiday tradition she and her family will not miss. The audience is divided into SATB sections but they also have family and group sections where all voice ranges can sit together. Grab your copy of Handel’s Messiah and join the fun, performed in the style and spirit of the composer's own productions. Here is an example of the "Hallelujah Chorus" in the sing-along style.

MetroTimer

MetroTimer is a handy metronome app that has a 4+ rating on the App Store. Available for iPods, iPads and iPhones, with IOS 13 or later. This metronome allows speeds to be easily adjusted from 30 to 250 along with a visual feature, allowing the student to see the beat with an LED flash. It also allows you to find the tempo of pieces by using the “Tap” feature. It has a Practice Timer, which allows students to set a timer for how long they wish to practice. In the Pro version, you can choose your time signature and subdivision of beats along with different sounds (drum sound, human voice counter, cowbell sound, and other pitched sounds).
