Canada Music Week

 
Next month, students and teachers from across the country will take part in celebrations of Canadian music and Canadian composers. As ORMTA Branches begin preparing their events, organizers can find helpful resources in our Member Documents (in the Canada Music Week folder), such as:
  • A list of media to contact
  • A media waiver form template
  • A press release template
Posters and other supplies can also be found on the CFMTA website here.

Council Spotlight

 
Welcome to Council Rebecca Goode! Rebecca is our newest Southern Zone Rep and Canada Music Week Convenor. Be sure to follow ORMTA on Social media as Rebecca will share some fantastic Canadian music throughout the month of November. Canada Music Week reports should also be submitted by December 1st to Rebecca at canadamusicweek@ormta.org.

EDI Committee Chair

 

The Ontario Registered Music Teachers’ Association is committed to ensuring an inclusive and accessible place for all our members and acknowledge our role in promoting a more equitable and inclusive world.

ORMTA is setting up an Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and requires a Committee Chair to be part of Provincial Council. The group will work to:

  • Identify and centre equity, diversity, and inclusion in ORMTA policies, programming, and planning
  • Embed more inclusive ways in the structure of our association
  • Identify any barriers to participation and engagement

CFMTA Connecting Canada

 
The next session of CFMTA's Connecting Canada will be held on October 19th at 12:00 PM (EST). Join CFMTA members from across Canada to discuss the curriculum for a first year piano student. Sessions are held on Zoom and session notes will be available on the CFMTA website here. Session info can always be found on our Teaching Resources page.

CFMTA Positions

 
CFMTA is looking for an Administrative Program Assistant as well as enthusiastic members from RMTA's to join a few of their committees. If you are interested in joining their Strategic Planning Committee, Young Artist Committee or Awards & Competitions Committee, please email CFMTA President, Laura Gray. If you have a review of a Canadian music collection or musical book or movie, submit it here. For the next instalment of Sandra's Bookshelf the theme is Creativity: books that inspire creativity or talk about developing creativity.
